Littlecroft is a Grade II listed family home in Guildford, originally designed by the renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. We were appointed to undertake a comprehensive programme of conservation repairs, alterations, extension works and interior design, ensuring the property could continue to meet the needs of modern family life whilst preserving its historic character.

The project included the careful repair and restoration of historic fabric, together with a series of internal alterations designed to improve the functionality and flow of the house. A new annexe was introduced to provide flexible accommodation for family members and guests, connected to the main house via a contemporary glazed vestibule that creates a clear yet sympathetic distinction between old and new.

Throughout the project, particular attention was given to respecting the proportions, materials and detailing that define Lutyens’ architecture. The design approach sought to preserve the building’s architectural significance while introducing carefully considered contemporary interventions that enhance the experience of living in the home.

Working closely with the owners, we also developed the interior design strategy, creating a cohesive relationship between the restored historic spaces and the new accommodation. The result is a sensitive and elegant transformation that safeguards the heritage of this important listed building while providing a comfortable and adaptable home for generations to come.
