IN SUFFOLK
Award-winning architecture, conservation and design across Suffolk.
RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice in Suffolk
Our team includes architects who are accredited by the Architects Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC) scheme and hold Specialist Conservation Architect (SCA) accreditation from the RIBA.
From our studio on Ipswich’s Waterfront, we work on architectural projects across Suffolk, from private homes, extensions and new builds to commercial, community and ecclesiastical buildings.
Suffolk has a rich and varied architectural heritage, with historic towns and villages, listed buildings, churches, country houses and distinctive coastal and rural settings. Our experience of working throughout the county gives us an understanding of the opportunities and challenges these buildings and locations can present.

Conservation is a particular area of expertise for our practice and we have extensive experience of working with listed and historic buildings. We combine an understanding of a building’s history and significance with thoughtful design to create practical, sustainable spaces that work for the people who use them today.
What we do

Working with an architect in Suffolk
Every project starts with understanding what you want to achieve, the opportunities offered by the building or site and any practical, planning or conservation considerations that may affect your plans.
We can support you from the earliest stages, including feasibility studies, site appraisal and development of the initial brief, through concept design, planning and listed building applications, technical design and project delivery.
Our team can also coordinate with planning and conservation officers, specialist consultants and contractors where required, providing continuity and guidance throughout the project.
About us
NJ Architects is an award-winning RIBA Chartered Practice based in Ipswich, with experience across residential, commercial, community and ecclesiastical projects and particular expertise in the conservation and adaptation of historic buildings.
We work closely with our clients, craftspeople, consultants and approving authorities to find the right balance between design, location, budget, planning requirements and sustainability.
Our work ranges from contemporary new designs to some of Suffolk’s most significant historic buildings, always with the same aim – to create thoughtful, practical architecture that respects its setting and stands the test of time.
Areas of Suffolk we work in
Our architectural practice is based in Ipswich and we work with clients throughout Suffolk, including Woodbridge, Aldeburgh, Southwold, Bury St Edmunds, Framlingham, Felixstowe and Stowmarket, as well as towns, villages and rural locations across the county.
