Last year, we shared an update on our work at Littlecroft in Guildford – a remarkable Grade II listed home designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. At the time, the carefully designed extension and restoration works were taking shape, with the aim of creating a home that would respect Lutyens’ original vision while meeting the needs of modern family life.

We’re delighted to say the project is now complete.

Working on a building by one of Britain’s most celebrated architects is both a privilege and a responsibility. Every decision had to balance conservation with practicality, ensuring the character, proportions and craftsmanship that define Lutyens’ work were carefully protected while allowing the property to evolve for its next chapter.

The completed project includes extensive conservation repairs, sensitive internal alterations and a new annexe connected to the original house by a contemporary glazed vestibule. This approach creates a clear distinction between historic and new elements, allowing the original building to remain the focus while providing flexible accommodation for modern living.

Throughout the design process, particular attention was given to preserving the architectural details that make Littlecroft so special. Materials, proportions and detailing were carefully considered to ensure every intervention felt appropriate to the building, while the interior design strategy helped create a seamless relationship between the restored historic spaces and the new accommodation.

Looking back at the drone footage from our previous update, it’s rewarding to see just how far the project has progressed. What was once a construction site has become a beautifully completed home, where contemporary family living sits comfortably alongside over a century of architectural heritage.
